Story:Beyond the Veil and into the River of Death Chapter: A Meeting in the River of Death

Hi there! I left you three reviews on this but unfortunately they were deleted in yesterday's glitch, so I wanted to come back and make sure you knew that I think this story is awesome. The first chapter really drew me in despite not having read the crossover fandom, just because the Department of Mysteries is fascinating and I am really excited to discover what's actually behind the veil and what's meant to be there when it's 'normal' and not leaking a river of death. I'm curious about the role George's father plays in the story - I think he was the one who stole the stone, but where did he come from? And most of all, why? I can't wait to find out.

I also love the way you've woven the two fandoms together, and although there are a few terms I'm not familiar with, I can get the gist of it, enough to know what's going on in the story. I love that the Deathly Hallows is what ties them together, especially as runes seem to be important in the Old Kingdom, and the Deathly Hallows are the stuff of legend in the wizarding world. I'm really looking forward to seeing George and Lirael solve what happened to the Charter Stone and how they work together, given the vastly different cultures they come from: George from about the  year 2050 I'd guess, and Lirael from a medieval-ish world of a different sort of magic. While they both have magic, and the two main characters know a lot about death, they (and their worlds) are quite different and I'm excited to see how the story progresses.

Wonderful work!

Author's Response:

Ohh, thank you for leaving reviews even though you're not familiar with the fandom. I'm sorry it hasn't been updated for a while, but I've not been feeling like writing, and instead I've been working on the queue and reading books. George's father is inded a main part of this story.

Yeah, this would be about 2037-2040 for George, since he's the same age as Teddy Lupin (and they're friends in my other story with George). The Dept of Mysteries is super-important in that story, but it's unfinished at this point, so I can't say too much.

I must admit that I've wanted to write a crossover for years and finally just got up the courage to write it. Thanks again for the kind words and the review.

Story:Beyond the Veil and into the River of Death Chapter: A Meeting in the River of Death

Though there are so many different parlances I need to remember or learn, I really enjoyed three chapters in sequence. Your story reminded me of 'Gaudian of the Spirit' written by Nahoko Uehashi. The main characters run away from the threatening,an unknown evil creature living underground and they fight in her story.

George's profession sounds interesting and moreover, what he found the same symbol as the Deathly Hallows in the spells Lirael cast is quite interesting. Is that your original idea? Cool!

It's thrilling to see George's world is connected with Lirael's world somehow. I imagined our universe while reading your story. Beyond the Veil, it may be the Death waiting us, but is that really the Death?

I enjoyed your desctiption of romance between Lirael and Nick as well. I hope George wiil be able to be back to his wife and the cat after he accomplishes solving the mystery.

Kenny

Author's Response:

Lirael, her world, the Charter Stones are all from the Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix, and alas, are his creations, so not my original idea. Mixing the two is my idea, though.

I wanted to apologize for how long it took me to answer this review, I have no excuse. Thank you for making your great banner for this story and for the review. Lirael and Nick's romance is something I actually enjoyed from the books, because while there was a 'destined' bit to it, it still felt real and natural. I'm glad you enjoyed it and it's not too confusing for someone who hasn't read Lirael and Abhorsen (the book, not our fearless leader).
