So this is a lovely, lovely one-shot. You know, I did ballet for fourteen years, up to Advanced level, so there's something about this which speaks to my soul. I always wanted to do a one-shot which included ballet in the wizarding world somehow, but never found an idea, so I'm so so excited that you did it.
I love how you write Dominique as well, how she's so small and so cute and how she has such admiration for Jocelyn the dancer, how she watches so many of her performances, has to work up the courage to speak to Jocelyn, to compliment her. She has such a strong character and such a strong voice the way you write her - with all the physical descriptions of her curling up in her seat, being swamped by her sweater.
Also I loved that you tackled the eating disorder issue. It's so common in dancing - one of my friends is a dancer and she says it's rife in the industry; it's horrible but true - but you dealt with it so so well and so delicately. It's difficult to do topics like that justice but you really did.
And I loved the ending of this: how it was so upbeat and so sweet, with them being able to get the baby and raise her, how they're so happy, with Jocelyn's recovery and little Natalia and everything. It's such a great ending to a lovely story :)
Wow! I had a friend who was a dancer, so I tried to pull from her voice, I'm glad to hear that I genuinely succeeded.
I've tried to make her relatable, and with comforting feelings like that we all find soothing, I felt it would be easier to see things from her perspective a bit. I had a seperate friend battling with that for years- so I know how hard it can be to be the support system and feel like its a lost cause. Thank you!
Babies! I love babies. And I've been working on happy recently. haha.
Thank you so much for the lovely compliments!
