What a huge treat this story was! I loved the way you brought together like two of my favourite fictions into one story and pretty much everything about this worked for me.
I think every review that I write for you I praise your charactersation both of your OCs and canon characters. I just can't help it! I was so impressed with what you did with Leah who is while obviously main character in Simon verses but it leaves a lot to be explored still. I think you caught the essence of her so well because you've got this tough rather snarky persona of herself but you also portrayed her inner 'softer' side via her feelings for Abby (adore this pairing btw!). I also liked the small amount of Simon and Bram feels like we see here. It's not over done to take away from the main pairing but a cute little nod to them.
So I'm going to move onto the plot and setting as I've waffled about your brillantness with charactersation. I think you set this up perfectly, I think the setting of the ball was inspired while taking something from HP canon but linking it in with normal high school setting was great. Also love that Bram is on the quidditch team, perfect for him and link in with 'simon verses' and that scene with simon on the soccer field. I thought you did a wonderful job of linking together the two stories into one piece. I also love all the houses that you chosen for them (especially Simon as a adorable hufflepuff!).
I thought the early hints of the type of relationship they have worked really well so the development of the kiss didn't come out of nowhere. Sometimes in one-shot this aspect can be a bit rushed but I thought it really worked for a nice natural development. The description of the kiss was really strong and worked perfectly with Leah's emotions.
I really enjoyed every aspect of this piece. Good luck with the challenge!

I haven't read much Simon fic, honestly, and I am SO glad I read this tonight. QUEER LADIES YAY. And these specific queer ladies make it even better. And also that it's a Hogwarts crossover. Can you please write a full length novel about this? like, PLEASE? *puppy eyes*
I think you did a great job characterizing, well, everyone. The dialogue is excellent, in particular. Leah's cynicism contrasted against Abby's exuberance is so much fun. And Simon's fuffy sarcasm. I definitely see Leah is not caring at all about school dances, but also as someone who is frequently injured by her own bitterness and insecurity.
And Abby's flirting. I have so much love for Abby's flirting, and for Leah's failure to register it until the end. They are so cute. I was cooing the whole time. I liked that you wrote the details of Leah's emotions as they kissed. Awesome ship!
Out of curiousity, you mention Leah having a black dress, but shouldn't her dress be green to match the theme? I thought that idea was very cute.
I'm sorry this is a short review, I'm getting a bit sleepy. But I loved the story! Thank you for adding to the SimonVS fic collection here!
It's been a while since I read any of your stories, so I thought it was about time for me to do so again. Besides, how could I pass up this story?! It combines two of my favourite things: Harry Potter and Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda. I mean this is like a dream come true for me. I can honestly say that I haven't looked this much forward to reading a fanfic in a good while, so I'm just gonna stop talking right now and get right to it.
Omg. Leah is so Leah. I mean that first sentence really is just a perfect description of her. You did a really good job with her. She really feels like the Leah Burke we meet in the book. She's very good at covering up her insecurities, so I could totally imagine her complaining about having to go to a yule ball because she's feeling insecure about having to dress up. Ahh, and Leah is a Slytherin. Yeah, I totally see (and agree with) that.
Ah. And Bram is a Ravenclaw. Yeah, I can see that too. And I love that Simon is just staring at him from the stands in the Quidditch Arena. Aww. He's so in love. Btw. Did I mention how much I love this story? Because I really do. I think you did a really good job of combining some of the best things from Hogwarts with the amazing characters we know and love from Harry Potter. If I hadn't read both books, I'd totally believe these characters were in the Harry Potter books to begin with. That's how good a job you did at integrating the characters into the Wizarding World. I'm really impressed.
Wait. Leah is in love with Abby. Aww. I love that. I can't believe I didn't think of that ship when I read the book. They're perfect for each other. Yeah, I'm shipping them now. You've convinced me. And aww. They're adorable. I love them.
This was amazing, Claire. I absolutely loved it. You did a fantastic job with the characters and I just really liked how you integrated them into the Wizarding World. It was just amazing. Thank you so much for sharing.
