I have the longest break between lectures ever (SIX HOURS) and no work left to do so I figured I deserved a treat. Here I am and boy am I excited. Qjmdslapapqp
No, but seriously, this is PERFECT. When I set my challenge, I was unashamedly after guilty pleasure fics and time travel is honestly one of my biggest weaknesses. Hermione time-travelling? Even more so. And this has been done so, so well, even if it's still in its early days. I love how you've made it an experiment gone awry - usually, I've read fics where she goes back in time in desperation or there's some sort of freak accident. Of course, this is an accident, but she was working with the Department of Mysteries which I thought was a really nice touch. It's a reminder of the consequences of the war we might not have considered and, well, logical tbh.
I would not be able to be as level-headed as Hermione in this situation although I suppose that's why I'm not Hermione Granger. Her response is very in-character and I enjoyed watching her race to the conclusion I knew she would. God, I love time travel fics.
Seeing as how I also love Regulus Black, I cannot wait for him to be introduced. Of course, he's part of the Death Eaters at the moment so that will bring on an interesting layer of conflict, but as long as my boy doesn't die in a year, I will survive.
Loving this so far!
So, I thought I would come to check chapter 2 (I did tell you I can't resist a good time travel fic, didn't I?)
And this new chapter didn't disappoint. I love the care you are showing with this, everything is so well reasoned and doesn't feel forced at all. It's brilliant! :)
I love how carefully Hermione considers her situation and the best way to deal with it. You write her perfectly in character and I love her reasoning. Also, I loved the way you wrote Dumbledore, how controlled he was despite the strangeness of the situation, how difficult it was for Hermione to interpret his reactions... so well done.
And again, I'm so curious about what will happen next... Mostly, I want her to meet the people from this time (and Regulus, of course...) And pity the Marauders have graduated already...
I'll be back for more when you update! :D
See you for now!
Another lovely chapter for me to get into! It's really exciting to see this story getting started, I really enjoyed the way this chapter was really in Hermione's mind like the thought process behind her panic. It worked really well however think when logically through what you might do. It's very hermione which follows on from the strong characterisation in the first chapter.
I really enjoyed the description about how things haven't changed so much, in the beginning you really show that hermione's confusion like her struggling to get to grips with what is going on. I loved the part about what she is describing that moment when you recognise someone she knows then suddenly it's not them. it really adds to her desperation to find someone anything. I think Hermione despite her confusion/panic is really pretty chill for being stuck in the past because I would be freaking out so much. I really think it's very her to just be like 'get on with it!' 'what can I do now?' so you've captured that. It's so cute how she thinks about dumbledore like she knows that he'll believe her. <3
I'm in serious need of reading your other fic so I can fully appreciate your tie-in with your other story because I simply love this idea. I'm going to get on that as soon as possible. I've just enjoying your writing for those two chapters. I'm really looking forward to seeing what is to come with this story because it's got so much potential for it. I want chapter 3 like now? please say you have it?? seriously, the groundwork for this story is so good so I can't wait to see what hermione is going to do next, exploring 1978!
This is a very intriguing and exciting start to a story that I'm looking forward to continuing to read :) I like Hermione's characterization in this, and the plot makes perfect sense--cool idea!
So, I'm so excited about this piece! it's going to be amazing I can tell by this first chapter! I think you've done an brilliant job at this first chapter, you've created such an interesting backstory with the time turners and you've really found a reason to start the story off well. I adore that you created this whole 'time turner' project concept which is really clever so much better than the 'accidental' use so I really love how you did that and I can't wait to see where this is going!
I really thought your characterisation of Hermione was really great here, I thought you really nailed her. I love the aspect of anxiety in her character that you showed in small way like I thought the mention of her re-reading the letter to memorised was very hermione and the detail about 'not becoming a head girl' so many little touches but it really added the character to flesh your version of her out. So I love that way in which you did it. I thought she had a really clear/strong voice throughout the chapter, the whole chapter seems really well thought out.
I thought the way she narrators the feeling about going through time, it's like 'this feels like last time' then 'omg, what's happening?!' like I really like the way you've chosen to tell that bit. there was again little touches of her anxiety in there which again does so much for her characterisation in this, just the way you describe how 'intense' the feeling is too. I just love all that.
I love the end sososo much, I just love the description of the room like the colour scheme with orange/beige like everything here points towards '70s so much! like it's so neat that you're giving the audience this hint about whats going to happen but you've left it on the little cliffhanger that teases me! I want more more more!
omg, I just can't wait to see what you do with Regulus! this whole chapter (and story) is like the loveheart eye emoji!!
I adore the fact that I got a mention! :D
- Abbi xo
ps. omg, I can't count the amount of times that I've said 'love' in this review hahah! xo
Hi, Rhaenyra! How are you?
You know (well, maybe) that I can't resist a good time travel fic, and Hermione/Regulus sounds like such an interesting pairing, so I couldn't resist to stop by here! :D
I loved this first chapter! I loved the circumstances you created for the going back in time and the history you built for Time-Turners. It was so interesting and believable and I really loved the care you put in it!
I really loved your description as well, and the atmosphere you created. I could totally picture Hermione's wariness as she made her way towards Hogsmeade. I really liked her characterization as well, it was very fitting in my opinion. And the Unspeakable woman, too... I loved it all!
Now I need to see what happens next... what is Hermione going to do? How's she going to cope? Update soon, please?
Nice job so far, can't wait to see Hermione with the Marauders! :D
