As I was validating this, I couldn't help but think of the way medievalists thought of the pelican, that it would pierce its own breast to feed its young with its own life blood. The comparison was made to the Christian God saving his followers with Christ's blood.
The unicorn here I think definitely knew that she was being hunted and didn't want the hunter damned for killing her, but she was also sympathetic to his plight, and it was beautiful and symbolic, but not heavy-handed. I loved this story and the way you presented it.
Thanks so much for your lovely review, Pookha!
