This month, HPFT is running a reviewing competition in the form of a snowball fight! Saturday-Tuesday of the first three weekends of the month will see the houses paired off into teams. They'll be leaving reviews on the archive to build forts and hurl snowballs at each other - and they'll have some whiteouts, blizzards, and even occasional flurries to deal with. If you're interested in taking part, whether you have time to leave a handful of reviews or dozens of them, stop over at the forums and find your team in the Winter Wonderland sub-forum to get started!
We have a new round of featured stories! Congrats to...
banshee - A Little Like This
Beeezie - Dead Eyes and Red Eyes
claireevergreen - Inevitable
dreamgazer220 - The Edge of the World
esmeraude - The Absence of Color
FlamingQuilltips - Once Upon the Marauders
melian - How to Tame a Marauder
melian - The Night Everything Changed
sunshinedaisieswindmills - In Fields of Poppies
TidalDragon - Schrodinger's Cat
You can check them out in the featured tab, and if you'd like to see the rest of December's bulletin, just head over to the forums! :)
Unfortunately, Aphoride will be stepping down from her position as validator at the end of November. She's done an amazing job here, and we really appreciate her hard work and dedication over the past year!
In honor of NaNoWriMo, we're throwing open the queue for five new chapters at a time for the entire month of November, not just the first few days! :)
We have a new round of featured stories! Congrats to...

We've updated our site guidelines and advisories. There aren't many changes, but we ask that you look them over and refamiliarize yourselves with them. The most significant differences:
We've also fixed some some minor formatting errors in other documents on the archive.
We've got a new round of featured stories - you can check them out using our featured stories tab! Congratulations to everyone who was featured - we have some incredible authors here!
Our summer reviews for Certified Author status have been completed, and people who have been granted the ability to bypass the queue have been notified using the email they used to register their archive account. If you'd like to read more about how we make our decisions about CA status, you can check out this entry in the staff blog over on the forums. :)
We're very sorry to announce that pookha has had to step down from his position as validator. He's been an asset to the archive since we opened, and we'll miss him in the queue.
Stepping over from her position as a forum moderator to take his place is BellaLestrange87. We're excited to have her on board, and we know that she'll be wonderful in this role as well.
Increase Queue Limit
On an on-going basis we'll allow 2 new chapters in the queue at once. We hope this will let people update stories as well as bring in stories from other sites.
Five for Five
For the first five days of each month we'll allow five new chapters in the queue at once. We might cancel on months where the queue is too far behind or there are too many validators gone at once but starting June 1st, you'll have five days to get five new chapters at once.
You can read more and comment here.
Hogwarts Houses are a big deal on our forums; there are many house-specific events and competitions, and the four Houses compete throughout the year to take home the House Cup.
Many of our members have requested an option for authors who are also on the HPFT forums to identify their house, to facilitate house-wide events. After putting up a poll, we found that a large majority of members wanted the option, so we've added a category for it.
Please note that you will have to go in and add the tag to each of your stories manually; however, you will not need to edit your chapters or put the story back through the queue for it to be added. :)
We're very pleased to announce another round of featured stories! Please give a very deserved hand to...
Liar by Felpata_Lupin
The Battle of Hogwarts by melian
The Ten Year Anniversary of Dumbledore's Army by FireOpal
The Orchard by beylah_obscurus
Tell Me Who You Are by Winding Arrow
As many of you have noticed, the archive has been in maintenance mode for a good part of the day.
The server changeover that impacted both the archive and the forums last week ending up causing some issues with our HTML encoding. Our host has now addressed those issues, so you'll now be able to access the archive again. :)
Unfortunately, to fix these coding issues, we ended up having to sacrifice some of the data- i.e., content posted in the past day or so. We're very, very sorry about any chapters or reviews you might have lost, and we wish we'd been able to resolve the situation without doing so. :( You're of course very welcome to repost them now that the issue has been resolved.
If you have any questions at all about whether something is in the queue (or anything else related to the archive), please feel free to contact me or one of our validators (Aphoride, pookha, and TreacleTart), and we'll clarify it.
Thank you all so much for your patience, and again, we're very sorry if you lost anything due to the glitches.
We're very excited to announce our featured stories for this month. :)
Please give a round of applause for...
The Writing on the Wall by Margaret
A Lord in the Shadows by ProfessorMinnie
Blank by BlackPixie!
Shades of Anger by cambangst!
A Farewell to Arms by hiddenhiberium!
Congratulations - and thanks! - to all five of you!
In honor of our grand opening, we're going to be running our first ever staff competition.
We realize that many of you have your hands full with NANO, so we're going to keep our opening challenge short and sweet. Your challenge is to write a drabble (i.e., 100-200 words) based on your NANO work, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, or anything else that inspires you! You have until 11:59pm GMT on November 30, 2016 to put your story into the queue. As long as your story is in the queue by then, we will accept it. :)
You can submit up to ten entries. Please include the "HPFT Archive Grand Opening Drabble Challenge" in each story's summary. The top 3 stories will be featured as the very first featured stories on the archive!
After a couple weeks of working out the kinks, the HPFT archive is officially opening its doors to the public! We're still very young and building up our archive, but our members have already uploaded hundreds of stories, and we'd love to add yours to the group. :) If you'd like to upload stories to a fandom that isn't currently included or characters/pairings that aren't included, please email us at email@example.com OR request them on our forums. The staff will be happy to add the tags for you.
Welcome to our archive! We hope you enjoy your stay!
It's that time of year again! We love NaNo - pushing ourselves to write (and write and write and write!) is both frustrating and incredibly validating. If we're lucky, we're even productive. ;)
This is HPFT's first NaNoWriMo, and we're absolutely thrilled to be hosting a massive event surrounding it on our forum. In our Krazies Kafé, you can find NaNo nests (journals), rat races, help threads, and an amazing pajama party. We're psyched to see some of the NaNo projects make their way onto the archive, and regardless, we love supporting each other through this month of madness.
So, we invite everyone to come check it out, whether they're doing the full NaNoWriMo or are being NaNo rebels with more reasonable goals. Happy NaNo!
It's finally here! After months of hard work, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that the HPFT archive is open! Forum members can join and begin posting stories immediately; we'll officially open to the public and begin advertising the archive on November 15. We could never have gotten this done without you, and we hope you'll enjoy posting on here.
A quick synopsis:
Our archive is fully moderated; everything must go through the queue and be approved by a validator. Right now, there will be seven of us in the queue: the four validators, abhorsen, toomanycurls, and WriteYourHeartOut. We foresee (and hope!) there will be a large volume of submissions for quite awhile, but our plan is to keep the backlog in the queue to three days or fewer, so you don't have to wait for too long.
We allow original fiction and all fandoms that don't come with major copyright concerns (i.e., Disney) or whose authors have not expressly forbidden fanfiction based on their work. We are also open to a range of styles of stories, including traditional narratives, drabbles, and poetry. Like our forums, our archive is committed to transparency. We have a formal appeals process in place for rejections, and we encourage you to reach out to archive staff with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
We can't wait to start validating your stories!
